New FoOlMatik theme… v0.3.

at
New FoOlMatik theme… v0.3.

The theme completely changed in the last few hours, to be less of a nuisance and more useful.

Features (as for now):

  1. Display of two category groups.
  2. Automatic image insertion.
  3. Threaded comments.
  4. Javascript dropdown categories for the two main groups.
  5. Sidebar on the bottom, hidden sidebar on the top, left side on single posts.
  6. Ad space… somewhere.
  7. Compatible up to WordPress 2.9 beta.
  8. More stuff I can’t recall.

Will I release this? Maybe, but first I have to create an options page in order to make it practical, as as for now it’s useful only for FoOlRulez. It’s a very atipical theme, and I am not sure many can use it.

I’m sorry for Internet Explorer users, but I couldn’t try the theme on IE because I am at the moment on a Mac. I know about one issue with the comment numbers per each post, and I’ll fix it soon.

Please, enjoy it’s speed and use. Comment and tell me the issues.

          The problem is still there.

The javascript files, I am using Scriptaculous.js (and its minion Effects.js), that uses Prototype.js, together around 160kb. It’s not acceptable and I am not willing to go through while prototype.js and remove the useless parts.

Most likely tomorrow I will switch the effects to the much smaller jQuery.js (55kb).

In any case, the slow down is usually on the first download, then the file stays in your cache.

And now I have speeded it up dramatically, and tomorrow I have to do the little fixes and optimization of javascript (maybe I can remove some of the loading times too).

you can sort the releases by series, looks good
it seems like it takes longer to load now but i probably just never noticed cause it’s never been more than a few seconds
