And another proofreader recruitment attempt!

And another proofreader recruitment attempt!

Since some of our proofreaders lately became inactive while the workload is still pretty high, Woxxy asked me to write up another recruitment post.

First, you should know English well, that goes without saying. Japanese knowledge helps, but is anything but a requirement. You should also be aware that this will take quite some time, so if you don’t have the dedication, please do not apply either. And lastly, more than just mere knowledge of English, you will need to have an eye for detail and be able to spot that single typo in those hundreds of words.

If you think you got what it takes, then by all means send Woxxy a mail/PM in the forum.

The next step will be a proofreading test. You may wonder why we bother with that, but one good proofreader is easily more valuable than 10 merely average ones.

The test will consist of 4 translated, but not yet edited chapters and one chapter that has been fully edited. This might sound much, but keep in mind that you’ll have all the time necessary to finish. Not to mention that this isn’t far from what you’ll be doing every week anyway. The chapters themselves have plenty of things to look out for, from typos to questionable grammar to other little surprises. This goes doubly so for the edited chapter.

With all that said, I hope you are still interested in undertaking the challenge.

wonder if anyone will join the last one was total mess? not really sure if it was mess but noone got recruited if i still remember good :(

Two guys got recruited from that round. Karisu and Tetramaster. On around 45 applicants.

It was not a mess really, it’s just a test for which you need some skills beyond knowing English.

yop so i dont remember after all wich is actualy good :) since at least those got recruited
kinda wonder if i should try it kinda intrested in “behide the scenes” of manga Translations :)

Given that interest is rather low currently, probably owing to the fact that we already had a drive and scared many away, I dont really see why you shouldn’t try. Woxxy may have to do some work setting it up, but aside from that…

Though keep in mind, the description is no exaggeration. If you can’t stay focussed and spot all the tiny stuff, you probably won’t pass.

I’ve got no problem at all at setting up tests. My job is taking care of administration after all.

Oh herro thar! I r think I is qu@Lifi3d 4 dis work. Pl0xz gimmez les devoirs.
    Can I has cheezbuergers?

Jokes aside, I don’t think the general population realizes that in order to qualify to work for Foolz, one would have to be on par, if not better, than a editor in a legitimate publishing company.

  3. Sub-Zero says:

Okay, I’m kinda interested here. However, I don’t know if I’l have the time, nor is English my native language. Would that be a problem?

  4. elperrito999 says:

    I have a question.
Why is kotomi here? Why didn’t you choose Kyou? WHY!? TELL ME WHY!?

No, I would not take “Kotomi is smart” as an answer

Ignoring the intentional typo in my name, I’d say my english is absolutely fantabulous! That, and I have a good eye for detail (I may be ever-so-slightly OCD ^^). But I’m only online about twice a week – 3 times in a good week – so I’m unsure if this would satisfy the requirements of being a FoOlz Proofer…
If this is okay I’d definitely like to apply :D
