Well, we all know more or less that Mangacurse and Mangareader.net were doing taboo with releases.

FoOlRulez, being deep in relation with the community, has a pretty straightforward take on what is happening. We’re very careful of the state of the scan-o-sphere, and have a lot of contact with other groups, be it because we shared projects now or in past, or because they use our software. We know at all the times what is happening.

I’m not the kind of guy who’ll write a rant, unless his computer broke.

I’ll just state explicitly what some of our rules are:

  • Never involve money in scanlation, unless it’s just enough to support expenses.
  • Never advertise ourselves. If people are eager to read, they’ll find.
  • Never ruin each other’s fun. Scanlation is fun and contribution.
  • Respect the projects of other scanlators, and always find dialogue.
  • Contribute, with a thanks, with giving strong-hand, or, by respecting.
  • Respect the author’s work, by not ruining the image for your own profit.
  • Respect the author’s work, by publishing high quality material, if possible.
  • Respect the publishers, and their requests. It’s their manga.

It’s our own decision that we don’t ever put a limit to who hosts our manga, and we won’t start doing this now. Anyone can host them, whenever they want.

Yet, we’ll be offended when someone profits from it, and tries making even more profit off it.

If you’re smart, don’t point out that you’re profiting from our scanlations.
We absolutely don’t like that.

*sigh*. I guess there really ARE poeple like that. Besides, I was a regular at Onemanga and I can assure that if it made any profit, it was all used for the sake of the site (well, more like they lost, money on it). anyway, this guy is funny, too funny. he goes out and screams “yep, I make profit from your voluntary hard work and I won’t stop, so, wanna be friend ?”. I don’t know what will be decided about Mangareader (frankly, I never liked them and their f*cking watermark so they can go die for all I care), neither do I about mangacurse (except for the MRI alliance ^^), but sincerely, I hope they will either drop dead or start thinking a little more about other people than themselves (and their wallet) because it’s people like that who are the cause of crappy laws like loli-ban and so on, hell, I’m not even sure, they DO like manga…

Have you ever thought of releasing only really shitty material(like eye-cancer scan-”quality”, annoying commentaries of the staff regarding whats going on in the manga editet in the releases, and leaving out important words or even sentences (“Sorry, i am probably to dumb to translate this, lol, rofl,xd ;-)”),so that the reader has to buy the official tranlated commercial publication just to make the pain go away ?

Yeah, Woxxy, but not in the actual scanlation (which is where I think RandomGuy was going with it). That kind of stuff really is annoying and something I’m happy to say Woxxy and Proofreading UberCommander Z-Virus will never let happen in a FoolRulez scanlation. Quality has always been the goal over quantity.
