How do scanlation teams work?

(1/3) > >>

Eos:
I know theres proof readers, translators, editors/revisers  and other roles in scanlating. I am just curious how the process goes,What it takes to get hired by a scanlation team, and what scanlation teams tend to look for. I someday want to do something around this area it's sorta why i'm asking. Anyways thanks.

Woxxy:
FoOlRulez has a slow execution.

1) Get chapter translated
2) Get translation checked by 2-3 proofreaders
3) Get the translator to accept/deny the changes
4) Get 1-2 (graphic) editors on the chapter, let them decide how to split it (most of time 24 pages per)
5) The edited chapter goes back to the proofreaders, possibly different from the ones in point 2.
6) The translator goes over the points of the proofreaders
7) Proofreaders merge the translator's suggestions
8 ) An editor applies them
9) Darais/Woxxy give a last check and fix stuff
10) Darais/Woxxy release

Darais:
Forgot step 0, Woxxy.

0: Acquire raws.

Well, we have people coming to our IRC, handing us RAWs. It's been a while since I had to search them.

If I had to say how it works from my eyes, it's

-1) Tell Darais to do my job

Rockmanshii:
-2) Bug Woxxy on irc by nickalerting him.
