Synopsis:
It's been several centuries since human beings declined due to the steep drop in birthrates. The most prosperous species on the Earth are "Fairies", 10 cm tall creatures with high intelligence. I became a UN arbitrator between the humans and the fairies and returned to my hometown to help my grandfather. I thought my job would not be a tough one and visited one of the fairies' habitats to say hello to them but...Source:
http://myanimelist.net/anime/10357/Jinrui_wa_Suitai_ShimashitaI'm still having a bit of trouble in deciding what exactly Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita (Humanity has declined) is, but whatever it is, I love it.
As the title suggests, there's not much left of humanity, and even gathering enough food seems to have become a struggle. Quote from the main character: "Humanities' sad end began a long time ago. Very Soon we'll be extinct." The new race in power are the "Present Humans", or fairies. Little doll-like creatures with a constant wide grin on their faces and a weakness for sweets. They also seem to be higly technologically advanced, somehow. And willing to help out in exchange for some sweets.
All this is presented in an adorable art style (especially the backgrounds are extremely simple though), and follows the main characters, a female human mediator, through her daily life. Cue dry-witted comments for everything that happens. Be it normal occurences, pointless meetings ("Never hold meetings! The outcome is determined before the meeting begins), a skinned chicken running wild, or a talking loaf of bread ripping itself apart.
As you may already have figured, the world of Jinrui wa suitai shimashita is a very weird one. Despite the setting the humans seem to be content with their lives, and everything leaves a very lighthearted impression.
Here's a few pics to show the art, since it really is uncommon:

As I said in the beginning, I absolutely love this show. The art is interesting and fitting (not everything is that simple drawn, only the unimportant stuff), I really like the humour, it's cute, and has some unexpectedly deep pieces of wisdom. Definitely gonna watch that till the end.
Edit: Oh, and here's the OP:
